Superglide Slip Plate substitutes

I have the old style Superglide. I've been using white lithium grease but would like to switch to a dry solution. Pullrite recommends Slip Plate but I can't find it anywhere local to me. Are any of the other spray-on graphite lubricants similar enough to safely substitute? Home Depot, for example, has a product by Blaster which they stock.

"Blaster Graphite Dry Lubricant reduces wear to extend equipment life. It creates a quick drying film that provides long-lasting lubrication. It’s recommended as a general maintenance lubricant on gaskets, transfer belts and conveyor belts. Also for use for high temperature, low load, locks, rollers, wheels, gears, chains and hoists."

Have any of you Superglide owners tried a substitute for Slip Plate?

I guess I was trying to avoid the shipping cost and the wait. By ordering 2 cans instead of 1, the shipping cost went from $8 to $10. This way I can keep 1 can in the garage (for normal hitch prep) and 1 in the trailer (for touchups on the road). Takes about a week to get here.
  • Slip Plate us excellent. I've picked it up at Grainger Supply as well as Amazon. I started to try a substitute but got worried it wouldn't carry the weight. I know Slip Plate works well. I would stay with it. I now have a B&W puck hitch as I bought a long bed DW.
  • Tractor Supply as mentioned has EZ Slide; it's a graphite spray paint similar if not identical to Slip Plate. I've used it for years and have had no issues over many miles. Link to EZ Slide
  • I would use the graphite spray from HD. IMO it is a generic product.
I get my Slip Plate from the local Grainger outlet.
  • Google is your friend!..:W

Google: "Slip Plate dealers" (or retailers)

Besides Granger, etc. - you can get "genuine" Slip Plate at Walmart.

If not "on the shelf" - can be delivered to your local Wally - free (no shipping charge).

  • I tried some of the generic products on my sawmill but they did not have the holding/lasting ability that Slip plate has. For me, it is only the real thing. I order enough cans to get free shipping.
  • I ordered 2 cans of Slip Plate from Amazon. I have been using the white lithium grease. Should I remove the slide bars for a thorough cleaning and "paint" them while they're out? How often do you reapply the Slip Plate?
  • When I changed to Slip Plate I disassembled the hitch and took some degreaser and a stiff brush down to a self serve car wash for cleaning. Then used Brake-Clean to finish at home. Really need to remove all the grease so the Slip plate will stay on properly. Touch up as needed.
