We have FTed for the last 7 years, are moving all the time, and wouldn't want to be without one. Just way too many times that we have found problems in a pedestal that we would not have been aware of without the protector.
I think if you are only out for a couple of weeks a year, or always go back to the same places when your out, your probably at much less risk.
Interesting enough, while we have been in a couple of parks where spiking was a problem, low voltage is a much more common issue that we have run into. And while most of the low voltage will not cause an immediate problem, it apparently can be a real "appliance killer" over time.
