- LadyRVerExplorer IIPlug in type. AFTER losing converter, inverter, TV and a couple of other small items.
- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I don't use the type of unit. I'm far more concerned about low voltage than surges. If you are using a 50 amp service it is a good idea. If a 30 amp, checking before you plug in (which should always be done) is what I do.
An autoformer would be a much better purchase for me. - GoPackGoExplorerI use one and would not be without it. As someone said, it's insurance.

- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII have a 50A 5vr and we traveled FT for 7 yrs. so YES we had a 'surge protector'
Portable unit by Progressive Industries (EMS-PT50C).....because portable was easier and PI offers 'Lifetime Warranty'
(Would have gone hardwired IF I could have found an easy accessible place to install. Unique situation----not the norm)
IF I had a 30A RV......probably not. - Dick_BExplorerX2 on the hard wired which I installed myself. Many have RV's for many years without one and others have a problem the first time out. It's insurance; much like spare tires or comprehensive insurance.
