Surprisingly Impressed

I have been researching and looking at new 5th wheel toy haulers as consideration for an upgrade from my current bumper pull.

I went to the Utah dealer for Grand Design and looked at their Momentum and WOW. I wasn't expecting what I saw. Very well finished. Better than anything I've ever seen to date. Attention to detail seems quite a bit above others I've looked at. Little things that were finished professionaly and nicely. Real wood trim around the doors and fit perfectly. Hidden edges under beds finished. Clean lines. It just popped for me. I think under the surface they are using most of the same components everyone else is so I'm sure they will have their share of "RV" problems. But what a pleasant surprise and what seems great attention to details that caught this consumers attention.

There must be something different to your situation than comparing like for like to have a $20K difference. The new Fuzions, Raptors and Voltages I looked at with exactly the same floor plans as the GD Momentum are all roughly priced in the mid 70s. What is the difference for your situation? Same year? Floor plan? Options? Very interested in your experience and situation.

  • We just celebrated one year of full-timing in a Momentum 380TH and have been very happy with our rig and the company support!
  • I have a Momentum 385 and very happy with it. You will not be disappointed if you choose Grand Design.
  • In spite of a recent "hit thread" about how bad GD is, the ones I have seen have all been impressive on fit and finish. I could not speak to how the chassis/frame/utility systems are built without closer examination.
  • Grand Design Owners just finished a rally here at Elkhart Campground in Indiana. This is the second one here we have been present for. There were about 150 coaches. I recall about 3 Momentums, most were the Solitude and some Reflection. They are a really happy, friendly bunch and I didn't hear any squabbling or grumbling about their RV's. They all seem to be generally happy with them. I was told this was an owner's rally, not put on by the factory, but I'm telling you. . . they had some serious help and factory support while they were here. There were tire dealers changing out the tires, factory people running around in golf carts, etc. There were there to fix stuff on coaches, but it appeared to mainly be minor little things as one camper told me. Didn't see anyone getting anything major done.

For the most part, they seem to be happy owners. You can go to their owners forum and see what they have to say.
