Talladega Fall 2018

Howdy y'all, long time DEGA supporter first time attendee. Thinking about renting us an RV and heading down for the weekend. Wonderin' if any of y'all fine folks have any advice y'all want to pass along to a fellow DEGA man.

Best Regards,
Raise hell praise Dale.
  • Always stayed in the free campground. The infield campground is usually sold out a year in advance but you can check. Visited some friends in the family campground outside turn 1. Seemed pretty nice. Not much hell raising going on. If I remember rightly, quiet time was 22:00. Bring lots of beer, or whatever you drink. They have honey-dipper trucks that come around to service the tanks. There are people coming through every couple hours with ice. Not exactly cheap but really convenient. Make sure you have everything you will need food and beverage wise. It is not a pleasant experience trying to drive into town to get something. By Sunday, rolls of toilet paper are worth their weight in gold. Bet you could pay for your trip if you brought enough of it. You will need comfy shoes and extra clothes in case it rains. Pretty much the same as any other camping trip. Scanner is nice to have but you can rent one there if you don't have one. You will need a hat for sure.
  • STBRetired, no kids, but I'd like to at least get a few hours of sleep nightly. Definitely looking into paying for a place in the infield. Any recommendations on location, and necessities to bring along for the trip? Thanks!
  • If you're taking your kids, you want to be in one of the family campgrounds. If it is just adults and you want to "raise hell" as you say, stay in the free campground on the hill across the street. Don't plan on getting much sleep. Lock down anything of value if you will be away from your rig. Best pork tenderloin sandwich I ever had I got in the vendor area in that campground. Bring lots of whatever it is you will be drinking. Get there on Thursday, leave on Monday.

I live five miles behind the track and just dealing with the noise, smell and traffic is enough for me. Have fun, it's a cool track to go to. Check out Camping World in Oxford for a rental.
