The new Montana
We ordered it March 30,it was built on April 14th and delivered to us on April 23rd. We could not find one anywhere with the options we wanted and thankfully we have two local dealers for Montana. Camping World being 10 miles up the road had no desire to even give us a price much less order one for us. The next dealer was Jamatt RV in OK. Night and day difference in how we were treated, the facility and price. 31% off MSRP per Montana's build sheet and not the dealers price sheet. This place puts any other dealer we have been through to shame. They had no issue ordering a unit instead of pushing a stock unit. We decided on the 3100RL due to it's length. In order to fit in my shop it could not even be one inch longer than 38 feet. We had our hearts set on a Mobil Suites but they only make on unit under 38 feet and its special order only. There was not one unit in the entire US we could look at so we took them off the list after looking at a Tradition by DRV that was not very well put together or laid out like we wanted. Our Laredo we bought new in 07 served us very well with no issues so we decided to give Keystone another shot.
Some key options I wanted were Goodyear 614 LT tires, slide toppers, Legacy package, king bed, 2nd a/c, MCD shades and the DW wanted a washer and dryer. The washer and dryer were dealer installed at cost.
The fit and finish are very good and everything is working fine so far. I love the level up system and how solid it makes the trailer when parked. It has a lot of features we like and only one complaint. Who ever thought of putting the light switch in the bathroom all the way on the far side of the sink should be beaten. We have to keep a nightlight in there to find it in the dark. On the other hand the automatic lights that come on when you walk in the outside door where to much so I cut them loose day one. After a few mods like toilet bowl sprayer, outside radio, bathroom skylight tint, outside weather station and quiet kit on the water pump its ready to go. The extra height takes some getting use to since its 13'6" but we love the bedroom ceiling height. The one really nice thing in this whole process was never having to worry about what the weight was. The GVWR on the trailer is 16k lbs with 3k on the pin. It has over 4k lbs carry capacity and loaded with gear and water is only at 14k. My truck is rated at 5,565 lbs payload and 23,400 lbs towing so no weight police comments for me! It pulls like a dream with the Mor/ryde pin and 4100 suspension. I do think Montana went the cheap way out by eliminating the rear cap as standard equipment and make you purchase a special package to get the rear cap. I believe it looks great though and I had to have it. Here are some pictures.
