I think that is how folks get into trouble. Six year old tires can still have lots of tread and look great but they are not reliable. I know there are those rarities that run their tires 8 or 10 years and never have a problem. But far too many find out the hard way, it is not a good idea.
We will be replacing our tires next year again. We put on Sailun S637's four years ago. They still look like new. But they have a 2014 build date so it is time for them to go. At least we should get a good trade in on them since they have plenty of use left for a utility trailer or hay trailer.
