So you don't have to learn anything about trucks, just get a 1 ton dually diesel and be done with it.
Then learn about toyhaulers.
They are not designed to live in full time.
Guess you could put some money into it to change some things.....
You could get a smaller 5th wheel trailer and triple tow a small enclosed behind that.
So be willfully ignorant and get stuck with a dually? I think that's terrible advice. There are plenty of good sized toy haulers, fifth wheel or bumper pull, that would work great behind an appropriate SRW truck. OP says he wants to take the truck offroad. Duallys absolutely suck offroad. And in snow. And in traffic, parking garages, etc.
LOL. Welllll... If you have been around toyhaulers as long as I have, you will realize that anything over 30' or so, most of them overload the rear end of a SRW truck. When I say overload, I mean they go over the GVWR of the truck.
I don't see how having too much truck is willfully ignorant.....
I can post up CAT scale tickets of my trailer if you like and you can tell me if these be toyhaulers aren't heavy..... :)
