Thor Acquires K-Z

FYI....KZ is a much better built unit then any Thor product. KZ was still a family owned business run by its founder. It was one of only 3 offering a 2 year warranty. I had a major problem with my Durango and the factory repaired the delam and replaced the entire roof after the warranty was over and didn't charge me a cent. Read the posts of Thor declining claims on 1 month old units. If you ever toured facilities in Elkhart you would agree that KZ was a much better unit and a better run company caring about its dealers and end users.

"Major delam?" Not what I would define as "quality." Glad for you they fixed it for you.

I love my Thor product. No delam yet.

The delam was caused by faulty roofing membrane. KZ Jayco and others had this problem back then but many walked away if the warranty was over. Anyone can have issues....its all about how the manufacturer deals with the problem....Thor would have walked away.

I've had an Outback for four years. Needed the chaulking repaired on my roof after 2 years. Fixed for nothing. They didn't "walk away". Had a trouble with a couple of the appliances. Nothing that was Keystone's fault.

I refer back to my earlier quote from David Thorne.

Those that know anything about Western RV Alpine MH's and Alpenlite trailers, you know what happens when the kid(s) try to run a company that their father built.

Maybe Daryl Zook at KZ wanted to retire! He founded the company 42 years ago. "For the "immediate future," Zook plans to stay on and help integrate K-Z into Thor, Tryka said."

So at 64 he will soon be ready for medicare and maybe retirement.

Yep, some of you guys crack me up too. Mobile suites uses Lippert frames, Thor owns Heartland. Absolutely nothing wrong with either of those company's and you automatically write them off.

"You guys crack me up. All through this site everyone touts their brand and makes recommendations to those asking and a good majority of those are RV's built by company's under the Thor umbrella. Keystone which by the way includes the Montana, Heartland, Crossroads and even the Airstream TT. I'm thinking maybe KZ was needing some $$ to grow and keep up with the demand for the business. Most of the time nothing changes it remains business as usual except they now have more $$ for growth."


Heartland is not a Keystone product. Need to do a little more fact checking.

He probably meant Thor because Airstream is not a Keystone product either. Both are Thor products.
