Love Thornhill,we get there several times a year.It is too bad that the north camping spots are gone from the storms.When they had the fire we were heading that way but were stopped,we went on to Oregon and on the way back we were there the first day that they opened,we were pretty much alone.
We always say never a dull moment there,we have seen 2 helicopter rescues on the hill across from our campsite,even landed on the HWY.
The last trip in January we got to see them filming a car commercial,they made 3 passes with a CHP escort following,the chopper that was filming was went right over us.
Three weeks heading to Refugio,hope this is better than last time,we left the morning of the oil spill.
we also seen two rescues from the sand hill. Recently someone offed them self up there. The nort side is back to working order it actually has the better part of the beach that way.
