Hello all! My husband and I are looking to upgrade to a fifth wheel from a travel trailer and currently have our eye on a used 2004 Hitchhiker II LS Fifth Wheel Series M-34.5 RLTG that we found locally.
I was hoping some of you could chime in on this brand, or better yet, this model type or similar, with any experiences, suggestions, etc. If what I'm reading is correct, Nu-Wa is a very good brand for fivers.
We currently have a Jayco Eagle travel trailer but are wanting to upgrade for more lengthy trips (we travel with three dogs).
Thanks for any info!
While I am not familiar with the model you are looking at, my wife and I have a 2007 HH II LS 26.5RLBG which we bought used early this year. It is our first 5er, having upgraded from a Palomino tent trailer that we bought new 30 years ago. Thus far we have towed it on four trips and accumulated a total of about 7700 miles. Our TV is a 2008 Silverado Duramax 2500HD.
We really enjoy the trailer and so far it has had no major difficulties whatsoever. The quality of materials that went into the build seems first-rate, as does the fit and finish. We did add a few customizing touches to suit our particular needs, but I am sure most everyone does the same. During our last trip (over 6000 miles and 25 days) we traveled some pretty bumpy roads. The trailer weathered the trip very well. Nothing loosened up or fell apart.
If you know someone who has experience with 5th.-wheel trailers, you might see if yo can enlist their help in making your selection and also doing a walk-through inspection of the trailer.
Good luck to you and have many happy travels.
