Thought's on buying Good Sam extended warranty

In the past forty plus years I have when buying a new RV purchased the extended warranty which cost several thousand more. From what Good Sam is telling me, it only cost about seventy dollars a month or I can buy quarterly or yearly.

They are telling me that there is no big out lay of cash or a lump sum in the end. What is everyone's thoughts on this and what are your experience dealing with GS on repairs, payouts, and do they drop or raise you after a few claims? This would be on a 2007 Keystone Copper Canyon.

Thanks guys, appreciate any info good or bad.

  • Thanks guy's appreciate all the info. I just bought this 5th wheel last Fall and at my age it is my last one I guess. Over the years I've owned around twenty five rigs. And yes, I've made my mistakes in the past including buying the extended warranty at the time of the new purchase. Learned the hard way on those.

Now, just this last unit to hit MT and Yellowstone and a few other places I still enjoying visiting. Again, thanks for everyone's input, if others have anything please add. I was leaning more to just putting it in the bank and I believe that's shat I will do.

  • Put the $70 a month into a savings account, in a year you'll have $840 which should cover most repairs. Keep putting that money away and that quickly adds up. With an extended warranty your makng CW richer.
  • waste of money and it doesn't cover everything you'd think it does. many of you products have a 2 year warranty anyway. you've had them for 40 years???? wow, you really did spend a lot of money on these products, how much did you have repair under those plans over the 40 years anyway.

take your wife on a cruise for the cost of the savings.
  • When you buy that new RV, it has a warranty. If you buy that "extended warranty" at the same time, you are paying for that warranty while you have the manufacturers warranty. You can buy an extended warranty from many vendors after the manufacturer's warranty expires.

Just wait to buy an extended warranty until after the manufacturers warranty expires. If the RV has proved to be problem free during the manufacturer's warranty, then an extended warranty will probably be a waste of money.
  • READ the FINE print. Extended warranties are not worth the money you pay . JMO

Extended warranties do not work much of the time.
