Maybe you should contact Goodyear and let then know theirG614 LT235/85-16 RST load G tire isn't a LT tire. :R

I've ran into tire shops back in the '90s that said LT or P tires couldn't be used on a trailer.
I asked one dealer if that was a fed or state law or his store policy or just his opinion. He gave me the deer stare in the head light look. I thanked him and found a tire dealer down the road with experience in tire replacement for trailers. He mounted two LT235/85-16 E on one axle for me at my request. On my reload run I had the other four replaced with same size LT tires.

For what it's worth. I know the majority prefer LT tires. I just went out and checked my G114 Goodyears on my new DRV Mobile Suite and the don't say LT or ST but stamped in sidewall trailer use only. I think my G614 on our Montana said ST .
The point I would like to make now is a friend of mine and one other person he new experienced a new wrinkle. The tire shops refused to sell and install LT tires for a trailer. The friends trailer was a utility trailer. The tire shops said the sidewalls were not strong enough on LT tires. We live in Ontario Canada. Our Ministers of Transport over here are pretty severe on vehicle safety issues. It might be worth checking with your DOT before spending money and being disappointed.

After a major tread separation causing a blowout on my FW with the original China made ST bombs, I purchased a complete set (5) of Goodyear Marathons. About a year down the road and probably 3,000 miles, I had two more belt separations on a trip to Michigan last June. Luckily I noticed the tell-tale wobbling on one of the tires while pulling out of the campground one morning and then noticed another doing the same thing while pulling into a different campground that same afternoon. Guess what.....that left me without a spare. (I carry an extra spare on long out of state trips). Out of necessity, I purchased 2 more of the same brand to complete the trip. Since then, after doing a lot of research and the help and suggestions of forums like this one, I have replaced the GY bombs with Bridgestone R250's and have never looked back. To be able to have the very same overall diameter of the GY ST235/80/16 E, I had to go with the LT245/75/16 E. I am completely done with any and all ST China Bombs regardless of Brand.

The Michelin MX2 is a P-rated (passenger car) tire, not technically an LT despite any hype to the contrary.

Also, the biggest 16 inch MX-2 tire made has a load index of 114, indicating a carrying capacity of only 2039 pounds. This is far below the 3500 lb. carrying capacity of your present Towmaxes that have evidently served pretty well during the typical 3-5 years that can be expected of a tire on an RV trailer. And unless you're planning on hauling rims to a tire dealer without telling them what rig it's going on, it's unlikely in the extreme that any such outfit will install tires so drastically below the trailer maker's original specs.

I'd bet you're right- makes a lot more sense since the O.P. refers to the PU tires as "10-ply". Likely LRE's...hope he checks back in and clarifies.

On the down side: unless specs for the O.P.'s fiver are different than those listed for this 2011 model, it came stock with LRE ST's. Is there any LT tire with the same carrying capacity that will fit his 16" wheels, or is a change to LT's going to necessitate upsizing to 17" wheels?

I had read this same statement by someone earlier this year so just before I put on the Maxxis tires I searched but could not find these problems with defective Maxxis tires.

Please point me at some of them.

Yeah looks like his 318 RL Laredo may have around a 13000 GVWR and 5.2k or 6k axles.
The LT235/85-16 E or the LT245/75-16 E have 3042 lbs capacity and fit the trailers axle load requirements.

I sure wouldn't put a ST back on a trailer that size. Maxxis ST tires seems the most popular ST recommended on this website but with over 20 members reporting their Maxxis ST8008 throwing treads/slipped belts/etc doesn't sound like the best choice.
