A friend lost a BFG Commercial TA between Q and Phoenix a couple years ago under similar conditions. BFG/Michelin paid for damages and a new tire. It was out side the recall S/N range. Discount tire in Mesa handle the paper work and sent the tire in. He said it was like a police report.
I would switch to XPS Ribs or the Bridgestone Duravis R250s to avoid future issues. You just do not read about those two failing like this.
