I also upgraded to LT235/85R/16 LRE tires from cheap st235/80R/16 and have zero problems with the clearance of 3 1/8 inch between tires. The axle spacing on our 5ver 6K Dexter E-Z lube axles are on 35 inch centers (hub to hub)
I also installed the Dexter E-Z Flex suspension and wet bolt kit a few years back... made things nice and tight again. What is your center to center axle measurement ?
