Tire Swap

Looking at changing my 235/80 16E tires for a set of 245/75 16E Michelin Ribs on my 5th wheel. For those that have done it, anything I should be concerned about with the very slight difference in size? Looks like they are less than a 1/2 inch wider and pretty well the same over all height.

Sounds like a good deal. I have ran both the Ribs and now the R250's! Both make great trailer tires!

  • I installed Ribs. They fit but are pretty close together. They seem to be a little larger in diameter than the Commercial TAs they replaced that were the same size. Still plenty of clearance for everything. Haven't had to add air in over a year. Expensive but trouble free. Just do it.

Concerned? It should have 6K or under axles! Space to spring leafs and shocks on the inside and fender shirts on the outside. Finally being bored not looking in your mirrors all the time! BTW Bridgestone Duravis R250's are cheaper than Ribs and just as good or better! Chris

Inside and outside clearance is good. Got over an inch to the nearest fender skirt and plenty on the inside. I am looking at the Bridgestones as well. Haven't got a price for them yet but the Ribs are $337 plus installation, ugh. I'm just tired of always being concerned about the tires!!!!

Update: Just got a price of $1100 (Canadian) balanced and installed for the Bridgestones. Probably will be my choice.
