How do you know that in heavy trailer service, the tires are subjected to more weight than they were designed for?
I don't think we are talking about the same thing. It is very easy to determine the tire carrying capacity of any tire, ST or LT. Generally for the same size especially in the smaller sizes the ST is rated to carry more weight. Whether they are junk or not is another issue.
