Maybe your idea of a commercial tire shop and mine are not the same. Not to be argumentative, but Les Schwab, Big O, and Discount Tires all sell both LT and ST tires. All three in our area specify ST tires on trailers but if you (as a consumer) insist they will mount LT tires. Maxxis tires seem to be the better than most for the smaller ST tire sizes. However, until you can get a failure rate, the discussion is meaningless. Knowing the failure rate of an LT tire used on a trailer and a ST tire will then give some meaningful pre-purchase data.
