Tired of Land Yacht Toy Haulers: Challenge to the Industry

You know, I think every toy hauler manufacturer out there has catered to all the elite toy hauler buyers. It's been overdone at this point. And it's frustrating to see that most of the new toy haulers being introduced are no different. There is little that is new or innovative at this time, and the toy haulers just seem to get bigger and heavier.

It would be nice to see some innovations that bring lighter, well-insulated, and more affordable luxury toy haulers to the rest of us. Just because I don't want to spend $50,000+ doesn't mean I deserve a piece of crap. So that's my challenge to the industry. We are just about slipping through the cracks with our one ton turbo diesel truck. There are just so few options. Many of us are not in a position, or do not want, to buy a special, expensive truck just to haul a toy hauler. That just doesn't make any financial sense to me, and my frugal mind cannot justify doing that unless you are going full-time. So, come on manufacturers - how about some more choices for the rest of us?
  • An "affordable, luxury toy hauler"? That's an oxymoron. Mutually exclusive terms.

If you want Affordable, there are some... like the KZ Sportsmen Classic. Probably can pick one up for under $12K brand new.

If you want Luxury, expect a Luxury price tag.

Northwood Mfg. the maker of Arctic Fox truck campers, trailers and fifth wheels began to make what you might be looking for. Less frills, still strong frames, good insulation and a lower price for the truck campers, travel trailers and fifth wheels. I am not sure what they have done with their Desert Fox toyhaulers. But, for what you might be looking for it is a start. And as mentioned prior, there is always pre-owned.
  • Just buy used I paid 7500 cash for mine work great for me and the wife. The main thing we wanted was a walk around bed and it has that. Every thing works fine generator solar system . Replaced the water pump for more presser and bought new battery's everything is easy to work on compared to a car

And what would that magic number be?
  • RV'ing may not be a thing for the masses if toys are required going forward. The mid price range may disappear with the middle class Americans. High end makers are the most sure bet to make it going forward I expect.

Based on other industries there may be 70% too many builders to make it in future markets.

The coming cuts in state and federal checks and the feds starting to pre collect income taxes due off of retirement funds of all types that were saved without income tax payment on the funds up front is going to impact all but the financially independent Americans.

Expecting tomorrow to be like yesterday for many of us may be a future definition of insanity.

Before the sky starts falling the US Dollar will have to loose its status in world trading. When that occurs I expect we will be in 'wild card mode' to the max.

  • There are some bumper pulls and Like mine the 2 axle 10' garage toy haulers that are on the lighter side. The 50K I agree they are getting ridiculously expensive and not getting cheaper. You never have to worry about a quality rig under 50 either, the expensive ones In my opinion, are built like a pile of Junk.
