tires for a fith wheel

Looking for some good tires. I have E rated tires 16". I had a blow out on rigth rear wheel twice. First time tire manufacture made it good. They said tires were defective. I replaced them with some tires from Dynamic Tire Corp and same wheel had a blow out. DTI says nothing wrong with tire. They claim overload or under inflation.Any good tires out there?
Weights for each axle 4050#
  • I am putting Ribs on mine in the morning. My trailer is new, tires are too, their just not a Rib. I will use my factory ST tires on one of my other trailers, I am not going to throw them away for sure. My other trailers have steel fenders and no fiberglass body to destroy if they blow.
  • Maybe the problem is not the tire. I would check axle alignment, suspension, actual weight loads on each tire, bearings, etc to eliminate the possibility of an overtaxed wheel.
  • Welcome to the club. I replaced my blown out and leaking ST235/80/16 bombs with BF Goodrich Commercials in LT235/85/16. I don't worry anymore. For even less worry but more $, go with Michelin Rib or Firestone Transforce. Searching the subject here will bog you down for weeks.
  • Ok, I'm going to toss out just one....expensive and there are more, but I would go with the Michelin XPS RIBS....Though, as stated by Donn and Chris, there are a ton of threads about tires...search LT tires.

Define "blow out". Do you have a TPMS, and know that it was not running low on air. Have you check the wheel for leaks!

Don0128 indicated where to look for "some good tires"!

  • Do a search on this heated debate. LT tires would be the best choice
