I've always used the white 16" modular steel wheels on my RV and the silvers on my equipment trailers.
My current 5er has 5.2k axle and came with new Marathons ST225/75-15 D at 2540 lbs.
I don't use ST tires so bought four 16" white modular steel wheels from my equipment trailer mfg down the road and had my truck tire dealer mount 4 BFG Commercial LT215/85-16 E at 2680 lbs capacity. The 15" OEM spare works fine......as a spare.
Ran that set for seven years and 55k+ miles. Currently have 49k miles on the 2nd set and no issue at any speed I need to travel.
As one poster mentioned the LT225/75-16 E 2680 lbs capacity is a bit shorter so measure your own trailers wheel wells and gap between the tires.
Dexter say 1" minimum between the tires.
My tandam axle trailer had 3/8" gap on the inside and 2 3/4" at the top of the tire. No rubbing issues.
Check out the Bridgestone R-250 commercial grade all steel ply carcass. It along with the all steel ply carcass Michelin XPS Ribs are tops although the XPS Ribs are pricey.
Couldnt find XPS in 15" only 16".
