Tires for Truck

I have a GMC 08 Duramax 2500 that needs new tires. Old ones have 60,000 on them. I pull a 35 foot cedar creek about 11,000 lbs. The last thing I want is tire trouble on the road so I am open to any advice.

Thanks
Bob
  • I wouldn't mess with success. Stick with the brand that gave you great service.
  • Are you looking for highway (better fuel mileage) or something with some meat to them? I love my Hankook Dynapro ATm, but they do hurt the fuel economy because they are 1) larger than stock, 2)heavier than stock, 3) Meatier than stock. 5 tire rotation every 5000 miles, and very little sign of wear.
  • 60K on your present tires? Tell us what your using. I want what you running now.
  • "Old ones have 60,000 on them." Did you not answer your own question? That is pretty good mileage! Is there something that you did like about the current tires?

  • I never had a tire problem on the road with 3 sets of Michliens. No problems at home either. Now have Firestones on it.
  • I wish I could get that much mileage. I put BFGoodrich on last spring. Michelns lasted less then 30, 000. Better stay withnwhat you have.
  • Whats wrong with the old ones? If you got 60k out of them then get another set of the same brand and size. Look at the plate on your door frame for tire size, thats the size for the configuration of your truck to pull the loads it is rated for.
  • Bob, if you have 60,000 towing miles on your current tires I would think you're doing pretty good. Are you wanting to add additional capacity or just buy the same size tires?
  • so you're not happy with what's on there? 60,000 miles sounds pretty good to me.
