Tires

Lost the tread on a Goodyear 614 in Wyoming this last trip. A new 614 was 2 days out. They had Sailun 637 in stock so we put one on. The size is 235-85-16 14ply. Has anyone had negative things with the Sailun? The price between the two is substantial. Thinking about put 3 more on in the spring.

Nice to know that Goodyear will replace a faulty tire, but when my Carlisle tires blew I sure didn't want to replace them with more of the same, even at no cost. "Fool me once, shame on me..."

Don't forget that GY has been fairly decent about fixing damage caused by tires that come apart, which is why they cost so much more. You're buying an "insurance policy". No other mfr does this, AFAIK.

    Finally fixed that phrase. Duh.
  • I hope you turned in the bad tire to a GY Dealer as they will replace the tire for you.

I lost part of my tread and two others looked like they were on the way. Had all three replaced at no cost.

This what you need to look for as the tires will give no indication of failure. The outer two ribs stay in place and no air loss.

    Mine were dated around "1015".

Have any issue as to speak to the Regional Rep!!!

  • On our second set of Sailuns !! the first set lasted 5 yrs. (including 2 trips cross country), we probably could get this year out of them too, but chose not too. In our opinion the best trailer tire on the market. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!
  • I too lost a G614 tread in WY this summer. I figured if one failed, the others wouldn't be far behind. I replaced all four with Sailuns. 4,000 miles later things are still good.

Have not owned Sailuns but have read only good stuff about them on this forum.
  • Have 6 of Sailuns on my new toy hauler, came factory with them. Looking forward to several yrs of trouble free miles.
  • I've had six of them for about 4 years with no issues. And I've heard of no problems with them from anyone. It could happen but so far so good.
