to disk or not to disk

New to the fifth wheel thing. We pick up our new unit in just over a week. I have the hitch, Reese 16k with manual slide, bought used and had installed. Please share the advantage of using. Thanks Jeff

  • Ya simply gotta love the PUlrite. Simply an awesome hitch.
I do not regret spending the extra coin on that unit one bit.

  • If it's the disc on the hitch. Used one on conventional hitches for over 15 years, the PulRite super-glide doesn't need one, or I would still be using one.
  • I have used them since I first bought a fifth wheel. The first one I bought lasted 8 seasons and was still in good condition when I traded in. I also put one on our new fifth wheel. I have not used grease on the hitch but can imagine it can get messy, and if there is grease around I will get some on me.
  • Have used a disk since day one. On my second one in two years, make sure its tight up against the pin box or it will get crushed sliding onto the hitch, oops.
  • Definitely use the Teflon disc but don't forget to grease the pin and jaws.
  • I'm going to stick my neck out and assume you are referring to the lube plate for the hitch.

I can't comment on not using a lube plate. Have been using it for 5 years. Have nothing negative to say. I'm glad I don't have to deal with the grease part?

You asking about the plastic disk on the pin or disk brakes?
