To Old ?

I have a 2002 Travelaire TW250 4-season with a rubber roof & thermopane windows that is allways under a roof when not used. The trailer has not been used a whole lot in the last 3 years but its in great shape, I'm thinking about putting new tires & brakes and putting it back on some long trips,I bought this trailer new & have maintained it on time, but is it to old? How long will the rubber roof last?

  • If you're doing the brakes inspect the wheel bearings closely as they sometimes pit when sitting a long time.
  • I had a '78 camper with a rubber roof that was parked outdoors it's entire life. The roof was still good 20 years later. :)
  • Not a thing wrong with a older trailer. Ours is a 2002 as well. It is kept under a shelter and used quite a bit. I keep the roof sealed with new caulking and a couple of years ago I purchased the Dicor acrylic roof system from Camping World and refurbished the roof coating. I could see a few spots that were showing black mainly due to a custom fit RV cover I used to put on it particularly on the corners. I go over it meticulously each year. I do not have plans to buy another one for a while. Really if you keep one up like you should they will last you a long time. Enjoy.
  • Nothing wrong with a well maintained 11 year old rig. Put tires on and go enjoy. Roofs are good for 20 years. Might be worth the time to inspect the seams and reseal if you find deep cracks in the sealant. Randu
