2500 HD 8 ft bed.....have soft cover over bed when not pulling, when hitched up cover folds forward and still cover generator trash can with charcoal and misc stuff stored in front of bed to be out of weather....hoses cords and things that can get wet are stored around the hitch.....never had need for more fuel as not in that remote of area.....could always carry some gas cans if going in back country.....extra fuel means extra weight.....the 38 gallon fuel tank is more than enough in fact at times think I should be filling it to half to save hauling that extra 100+ lbs.....I burn about 6 gallons an hour at 56-58 mph so with half tank can go 3 hours or about 180 miles.....since I stop on the hour or at rest area near an hour just to walk around vehicle and stretch fuel is not an issue and have gas burner so diesel not issue....like on Blue Ridge....
just how I do it.....house is with me so I don t care how far I drive at a stretch....good luck
I want the extra fuel for pricing and availability selection, not for remote area access.
otherwise at 300 miles I gotta find fuel.. I've seen price fluctuations of 70cents a gallon. also had trouble pulling into a few places with the trailer attached.
mostly I get to stop thinking about fuel all the time. Buy when I want to, instead of when I have to.
