Tool box in a long bed?

I just found a small truck shoulder mount box and it sits on the floor of the long bed and I can close my Tonneau cover over it

You “will” eventually wish that you had a flush-fit toolbox! 30 years ago, my tool box was “only” about 3” above the bed rails. It took a year or so.....but I finally introduced the 5er to the tool box! :M :o memtb

Let me add a couple of pictures of my below the rails tool box in our old 2001 Ram. The great part of a below bed box is that you can have a full bed cover.

No law says that you cannot use a slider in a long bed to gain the clearance you need. It also puts the pivot point back a little to get the swing going sooner and quicker. Probably cheaper and more useful than getting a new toolbox.

It depends. Depends on the shape of the front cap. Depends on the pin box, stock or extended. Depends if & how high the box is above bed rails if at all.

Got one that is flush with the bed rails & also have an extended pin box. The box is half fuel, about 35 gallons, & half tools.

I don't do it but I could get right at 90 degrees no problem if I wished.

That looks like a nice toolbox also, what brand is that ?? Also thats a good 16K Reese hitch ,had one, only reason I got a different Reese was I wanted to go to 18K rating. Very solid, and was always a positive latch when backing into it . I can't count the number of that hitch I have seen in trucks, a lot. Very popular hitch .

HighwayProducts 30" front to back, NOT cheap but neither am I. OH and the hitch is nice also!
