I woudn`t settle for a TT with that truck. Do your homework and figure out what they payload is and buy accordingly.
That heavy diesel engine is using up a lot of your GVWR, but the weight is on the front. You still have a HD truck, with around 6,000 lbs RAWR, and tires likely rated for 6,000 plus. IMO, that truck would handle a FW, with a max loaded pin weight of 2,000 lbs. This would be a FW loaded weight of about 10,000.
No, all hitches are not equal, and a sliding hitch will be heavy. A good quality, user friendly hitch, such as the B&W Patriot 16K, would be a good choice in a non-slider, and has a lot of adjustment.
