Tow question

Got a '02 Dodge 2500 4x4 with 5.9 HO Cummins, 6 sp, 3.73 rear, Camper special package. We just purchased a 2016 Jayco Pinnacle 38FLSA and we're picking it up shortly. Big fiver. How do you think my old ram will do?
  • Weekend trips in the flatlands, ok. No hills or mountain. That tranny aint gonna make it. Sorry.
  • I think you trailer..(beautiful one at that) comes in at about 16,000 lbs GVWR.

My bet is that it is way too heavy for the available payload that your current 2500 truck has.
Hopefully others will give you a more positive opinion.

Well, the Ram (very nice pre-emission truck, great engine & OK tranny) will do fine but the rear axle and suspension hauling a beast like that around on it's back???...who knows. IMHO, it'll be a huge tail wagging a small dog!!!:B But, you had the 3/4 ton truck before buying the 1 ton requirement 5'er so you already knew your trucks weight and towing limitations are exceeded. Overloading yer truck wasn't an issue for ya so ya got what ya got!...nice 5'er...hang on and enjoy!!!

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
  • With a dry hitch weight of 2800# you're terribly overloaded. Don't want to sound negative but... I think you're payload is about 2K if I'm not mistaken. That is a great fiver, but needs a 3500 dually IMHO.
