Are any of you towing a 12,000 or heavier trailer using the GM stock wheels and 245/75/16 tires? Any problems related to these narrow rimmed tires?
I have an '02 D'max that I bought with 265's on it, and have continued to put them on since. I picked up about 900 lbs' tire capacity, which puts me just over the RAWR on my tires. I can live with it... :-)
Lyle - RAS43Explorer IIIMy first 5th wheel tow vehicle was a GMC with those tires. Had it for 7 years and never any tire issues. Towed a NUWA Snowbird and a boat. If you are within the ratings it shouldn't be a problem.
- ChooChooMan74ExplorerIf they are stock sized and load rating tires for that truck, they have no issues supporting the GVW of that truck.
- rhagfoExplorer IIIWell depending on pin weigh, you could exceed the tire weight rating. 245/75-16 only rate 3,042# ea, max of 6,084# on the rear axle. My 11,000#+ 5er put my rear axle at about 5,500#.
