OP---get a good truck/RV GPS. You can put in height/weight/length to keep you on bigger roads. If you are using a map, stay away from thin, black, squiggly lines.
Most underpasses are marked, pay attention to signage. When you find that one that isn't marked. Back up...SLOWLY.....move away from the object. WHEN IN DOUBT, TURN ABOUT.
