lol at the 3/4 ton guys who have to "justify" their purchase
I don't need to justify buying my 2500 (f250). That's all I could afford at the time and it fit my needs, as it still does.
I don't give a R.A. about if others don't like it or have a problem with it.
exactly
I agree that it matters nothing what others think. The thing I see as a shame is that there is little difference in price going from a 3/4 ton HD truck to a 1 ton SRW so why bother with the 3/4 ton. The other thing that people find surprising is that in many cases a dually is cheaper than a SRW. In the case of the new Ford, the 20" wheel option is more costly than is the dually package. So to think you are saving money by purchasing a less capable truck might be the result of lack of information. There are reasons to buy a 1 ton SRW over a dually but saving money on the purchase price is hardly a good one. I know of no good reason to purchase a 3/4 ton HD over a 1 ton SRW.
I liked the color and options on my 2500, no need to look for a slightly more expensive 3500 to only get one more 1/4" leaf spring. It's not like I needed the CCC or tow rating of a 3500 anyway. For some it's a compromise between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. They need slightly more than the 1/2 ton but not as much as a 1 ton. If I was looking for a new truck and was considering towing heavy then yes by all means I would go 1 ton. In reality the manufacturers should combine the two and have a lighter GVW 350-3500 version to compensate if some states had regulations on GVW or the trucks weight. Not everybody needs 3000+lbs of payload or 18,000lb tow rating. But they need more than 1400lbs and 9500lb tow rating.
