This ^^^^^ is sort of where the confusion begins. Many of us who have duallies don't have them just because we like to buy tires.
We have them because we need a dually to properly do the job. and yes we have them because we are towing a large trailer.
I have no problem running the numbers but you don't have to be a mathematician to understand at some point a dually is required.
Once you reach the point of needing a dually function becomes the priority over style.
Some try to hold on to, or purchase a SRW for reasons other than towing, however the main reason many of us have the dually is for towing:S
Once the trailer reaches a certain size a dually is required. Yes some try to get by by adding gimmicks and gadgets, but there is no substitute for the additional capacity/ability the dually provides.
Tow the same trailer with a dually vs. a SRW and the difference/improvement is easy to feel and see.
