I got thinking of a camping trip we took in the early 1990’s. The trailer was like 26-28 feet and just one of those old old heavy beasts. And the truck was a Ford single cab manual straight 6. Remember those old 300 engines? Well this thing just felt like you were barely going to clear the next hill but you did clear it going like 25 mph or less. It got us there and back after 100 miles one way.
It was really just hard to drive. I might have relaxed with it in another trip but that’s the only trip we took it on. My brother in laws wife’s family.
I’m sure the truck was probably overloaded.
So everyone check out the literature Ram puts out on safety, it takes up one page in their fancy brochure. I’m sure Ford and Chevy have a page like that too. They’ve put a lot of work into safety.
You gotta think that is good. Because most folks towing these trailers probably haven’t driven anything nearly this heavy.
And one thing we haven’t talked about it just getting good training and safety classes for new and not so new Rver’s.
