This forum has a better understanding now, than when I became a member. The weight police were not to be disputed!! The sticker police were, and still are very active, but are at least now better informed, as to how these stickers are figured, and how it pertains to actual capability. So many were told they were unsafe, especially concerning the 3/4 tons, with their class 2 restricting GVWR, when in fact, they were the exact same truck, as the class 3 they were told was needed. Yes, a few actually traded, paid the high price, not knowing they just bought higher rated stickers.
In any case, common sense, using good judgement, when towing heavy, can keep most of us safe! Just having a huge truck, medium size trailer, does not make it safe, if over driving the conditions, in traffic, bad weather, mountains, etc.
I have noticed some of our most infamous WP have left the building, been gone for a while. I wish them well, hope they just moved on, but still in good health! :)

Totally agree!
Well I was one of the I can tow it with what I have for many years. We got a nice 2001 Ram 2500 CTD 5 speed manual with 3.55's, this was in 2010. Dodge/Ram only gave this truck a 8,800# GVWR, the 3500 DRW (No SRW 3500 1994 to 2002) had a GVWR of 11,500#. Our 2500 had the Camper and tow packages and optional 265/75-16E tires rated at 3,415# over the stock 245/75-16E at 3,042#.
The last time we towed with it it scaled at 10,500# on the TV and the 5er was at 12,700#. Yes it tow ok, still under the 6,084# rear axle rating and tire rating. I had added a small chip and RV275 injectors so had about 300 hp and 600ish lbs. of torque. It drove, pulled, stopped and carried fine, never needed to bag it to be level.
Well we full time now and DW can drive a manual, just not hot on the idea.
Well bought a 2016 Ram CTD, Aisin, 3.73's DRW the difference is night and day! No issues getting going, stopping. I thought the 2001 Ram was solid towing, with the DRW don't even feel the 5er effecting the TV while going through corners.
I am not a card carrying member of the WP, BUT I do have issues with those that say to newbys sure you can carry/tow that 15,000# 5er with a 2500, just throw some bags on it! No you don't need to worry about GVWR, GAWR, just tow what you have!
Statements like those are in my view irresponsible, you could be setting the newby up for what could be a terrible towing experience!
While I did it and never had a bad experience, and felt relaxed towing with the old setup, the NEW experience is Sooooooo much better!
So many HATE the thought of Daily Driving a DRW, well we are full time and we didn't want to do the chase car forever. WE that is me and DW don't have an issue daily driving a DRW, NO it isn't a Smart Car when it comes to parking lots and drive troughs, but it will go through many, the size issue is what YOU MAKE it! If you think this is a MONSTER that won't fit anywhere it won't, I know how wide I am and don't have an issue.
