No matter which type of RV you have, they are all essentially boxes of air. Wind is something to be respected & one needs to understand the limitations of their rig.
We lost our first 5er to a blowover. Huge gust hit us broadside, kingpin stretched the jaws of the 5th wheel open & over the trailer went down an embankment. I belive the truck, a crew cab long bed dually saved our necks that day though we were within inches of going over the side too when the trailer broke free of the truck.
Had we been towing a TT who knows what would have happened? Had we been a class A I believe we would have been history. No chance. The huge gust of wind would have had its way & the whole thing would have gone over the side.
These days if the wind is forecasted to be over 30 & broadside to our general direction of travel we do not move. If less than 30 we move but do so with a full water tank, 100gal, to give greater stability.
