Chevy had problem with flywheels behind duramax, something about it externally balanced so the fly wheel was 2 parts with rubber in between. Basically if over heated fly it would separate. I wouldn't own any other chevy auto but the allison, maybe the exception of aftermarket. When I bought my 2004, if I'd got duramax it was 6k extra, but you could add a duramax for only another 1K. Which was really a good deal for buyer, but I'm sure it saved Chevy a lot of time/rep/warranty claims.
Any one know why Ford went to all auto trans? And what year they did it?
