FWIW, I never travel with a full water tank, only enough to use on the road if necessary (about 1/4 tank). However, in my case I always travel to RV parks where there is water at the site. I understand your needs are different.
Is it possible to use a water source closer to your destination so you can fill up when your almost there? I did that when I owned a motorhome some years ago. I was usually able to obtain water enroute from a fuel station by asking permission to fill my tank from their spigot at the side of the building.
I don't like the idea of hundreds of lbs of water sloshing around in the holding tank while driving, even if they're designed to handle it.
