Toy Hauler for Giant Scale Model Airplanes?

I recently sold my bumper pull TT and bought a slide-in TC so I could pull my large model airplanes behind in their 12' Interstate cargo trailer. I looked for a toy hauler that would suit my living and hauling needs, but I could never find the perfect setup.

Does anyone here use their toy hauler to transport their model airplanes? If so, I'd like to see your setup.

I will post some pictures of mine when I get a chance to load everything up and head out to my first fly-in!

Regards,

Jeff
  • I use my Stealth 34' Toy Hauler for my planes. I am building a support rack under the raise up beds in the garage. They just hang with no damage. When flying time comes, I use the shaded area under the awning with tables and 110AC plug right there on exterior. I can store wings above the cabinets and my helicopters as well.
  • Seems like your TC with cargo trailer combo would give you more versatility and also allow you to transport your self contained hobby for day trips too. Unless the TC just doesn't have the living space room you want to be comfortable. In that case, the sky's the limit on how a TH garage could be customized to suit your hobby.

With the TC combo, one major item missing in the cargo trailer would be AC for working on planes in the cargo trailer. Nothing that couldn't be dealt with by adding AC to the cargo trailer... assuming you have a gen to run it.
  • Go to some fly-ins and look at what others are doing. Have seen a number of really nice setups, including workbenches, lights, and tools necessary for repairs. Many have room for a place to sleep.
