Toy Hauler for Seniors

I am posting this in the 5th wheel section because what I want is really a nice "non goddie" 5th wheel that would allow us to take our golf cart South for the winter.

All the TH's that I review and see in parks are painted up like they belong at a race track. The view angle of TV is such that I see nothing but sore necks. Seating all looks like it is set up for a family of 10. Saw one that they claim had theater seating - right next to and at a right angle to the TV, another one with the TV on the top of the wall across the room. Who designs these?

Doesn't someone make a TH model for two seniors to snowbird in????

How about one without all the bunks in the garage, the loft openning to the garage for shortage of RC Airplanes or forget the loft all together and increase living room, two theater seats straight across from a TV at eye level, a dining room table with 2 or 4 chairs, walk around king bed and a computer desk somewhere. Maybe a garage that is finished better and a TV that folds down from the ceiling and theater seats in the front of the garage face aft to the TV. How can it be that hard, our little 29'Cardinal has a camper king, computer desk that holds printer and paper work with a foldout counter for the laptop, two recliners that face straight on to the TV. Dining table with 4 chairs, two of which we now leave home. And does not look like it should be parked next to a Nascar Whor...house.

Wonder if Space Craft builds TH's?

Best option is to let manufacturers know what you are looking for. Personally I would like a toy hauler that only has a 6 foot area for the garage with side entry/ exit ramps. Only need room for a motorcycle and the tie downs to hold it in place. When enough people ask for something a manufacturer will make it.

they made them and not enough people bought them so the stopped. The majority of people interested in toy haulers want the garage space.
  • We had the same problem. One floorplan that was pretty good was the XLR 386 with the theater seating across from the tv/fireplace. Still a lot of wasted space for just 2, but it was one of my favored floorplans.

Interior when we were looking had XLR splattered all over the place. Big turnoff. Maybe they are better now?

This was the best design for 2 people I have ever seen: Keystone Raptor 3802rl. Keep watching to see the great use of the garage. Too bad it was no longer for sale when we were looking (and I couldn't find any within reasonable distance).

  • We've never been able to figure it out either. We love ours, but we just pretty much lucked out. The dealer we talked to had never heard of them, and we just happened to come across one on the internet. The Keystone dealer was totally unaware they even made that model. Pretty poor marketing if you ask me.
  • That's a very nice setup. Unfortunately for some reason it seems they only made it for 2 years. I can't figure out why.
  • The Fuzion 383 is exactly what you're describing and why we have one. When the garage is empty there is almost nothing that shows it's a toyhauler. Big living room with the TV at a normal height, a couple of recliners facing the TV, and a couch for a couple people. And dinette.
  • New Horizon and Space Craft both build custom units. That way you get what you want.

  • Well the thing is that people are out on their toys not sitting in their hauler so they are built with that in mind.....not snowbirding. And they do take them to NASCAR races and other sporting events and are not IN the hauler. Mostly just used to sleep.
