If you wrench on your equipment while away, a larger generator (5.5KW) is nice so you can run the air compressor or welder and not have to shut down the microwave and air conditioner while doing so. Your other alternative is to have a dedicated shop genset that is run for tools.
We replaced our toy hauler with a truck camper so we could haul a larger garage (enclosed trailer) that was separated from living space while not having to upgrade the tow vehicle. Additional fresh water and gray waste tanks are in the trailer along with extra fuel and LPG.
The enclosed trailer gives our truck camper the following additional capacity:
20' garage
20 gallon fuel
25 gallon LPG
84 gallon fresh water
30 gallon gray waste
90 w solar
