The payload your referring to is a tire placard number which can change with different tire and wheel packages on some trucks.
We find some 1500 Rams with a 10k lb tow rating. The 5.7 hemi 3.92 gears and the 8 speed transmission has no trouble pulling the load......but won't have the axle/tire capacity to carry a 12-25 percent hitch load from a RV TT/5th wheel trailer. Tow ratings are for all types of trailers....not just a RV.
For some reason Ram uses those small 3900 RAWR on all new gen 1500 trucks.
These trucks empty rear axle weights may be in the 2500 range leaving approx 1400 lbs for a payload. You sure don't want to exceed a axle/tire or wheel load limits.
