I agree. Plenty of motor to pull but not enough payload. How do you figure he'll be within that 900-1200 when the hitch weight of the trailer is 980. Then you have to add 80 pounds for the 2 LP tanks, 50? pounds for battery, 100 pounds? for wd hitch, 200 (no offense) for the driver, + whatever passengers he has (wife, kids, dogs etc) + any supplies that go in truck? Hes at 1200 with just the 2 tanks, battery, and hitch.
Wildhawg, look at your sticker on your trucks door and it will tell you exactly how much your payload is (the one that says "The combined weight of of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lb") . From this number, you have to subtract all of the same things that I listed above (driver, passengers, foods, activities, maps, camping supplies, hitch, etc and of course hitch weight

He certainly has enough motor to pull the KZ. Max weight fully loaded on that trailer is only 8800lbs, which amazes me for being over 30 feet long. You would want a TW of 900lbs to 1200lbs when fully loaded...That would give your the 10 to 15% recommended TW. KZ is long but when you are looking for a walk around bed (murphy bed is kinda cool never seen that before) and a enclosed garage it's going to be long. If trading in the new 1500 is not a option add some airbags. They will level and firm up the ride. With a good WDH with anti sway I think he would be good...
