TrailAir RotaFlex - Opinions

We have quite a bit of chucking going when pulling our 5er...makes going over those bumpy bridges almost unbearable.

Hitch is a Resse 18K slider similar to this model: Reese Slider

Our 5er is a Wildcat 29BHP, probably somewhere around 10K to 11K loaded. Truck is 1996 F350 7.3 CCLB 4X4.

Surprisingly, I couldn't find much info on the first 10 pages or so of the search engine on here related to the TrailAir RotaFlex pin box upgrade for lippert frames. It is essentially the base model pin box upgrade in the TrailAir product line, and it claims to "significantly reduce chucking".

Does anyone have any experience with this to confirm (or deny) this claim or whether or not this is a good upgrade? Presumably, the higher end lines of the pin boxes offer better ride quality, but the price for the RoatFlex is reasonable enough to be considering it right now.
  • I'm also interested in this forum. The new 5er's we've looked at had the rotaflex king pin. not sure if it really works as well as the Air Ride king pin system.

We traveled for 5 years with our 36' 5th wheel and a regular king pin, then bought a new 5th wheel that came with the Trail Air king pin with air ride. A world of difference, the 5th wheel rides so much smoother over bumpy roads. Just floats along, highly recommend any brand of cushioned king pin that takes the "BAM" out of those bumpy roads. There's a lot of bad roads out there.

Sadly, the roads we were on weren't terribly bad. The roads in GA were a little bumpy, but our FL roads smoothed out pretty nicely...and still the chucking. The model I'm looking at isn't the AirRide, but it is cushioned so I'm hopeful that "anything will help".
