Trailer Aid?

The problem with the trailer aid is it puts all of the weight on one tire, wheel and axle, thereby overloading them. By how much, of course, depends on your trailer, but in most cases I bet the overload is significant and enough to cause permanent damage to some components.

Yes I have used the Trailer Aide ramp sucessfully a couple of times on the side of the road. Works great. On our Mobile Suites I did have to put an additional board under it to get the height but it worked flawlessly. Just don't forget to looses the wheel nuts on the bad tire before driving up on it with the good tire.

Dexters warning is for those new folks that don't know any better and place the jack under the axle tube towards the center of the axle and bends it.
Place the jack under the axle tube next to the U bolt or the U bolt itself and you won't bend the tube and no it won't crush the tube either, on a std leaf spring axle.

I have a 12 ton shortie hyd bottle I have used for years on my equipment trailers axles from 1750 lbs up to 10k lbs.

Now if you have Dexters torsion axles then its a different story with those thin wall axle tubes.

X2 Trailer Aid and adding an extra board. Only had to use it once in 9 seasons, however.

The Trailer Aide will not cause any damage to anything.

Jim, thanks for the additional on jacking. I did just that with an 8 ton bottle, right between the u-bolts and seemed to do just fine.

Trailer aid works good on tandem axle units, on my tripple not so much. althouh it still helps. And I also jack all of my trailer up under the spring mount.

Why not lift the trailer at the frame? That is the smartest place to put it.

35' trailer, 24" from ground to bottom of frame, what kind of jack is going to get one tire off the ground?

I use my Lynx blocks on the two tires that are not flat and a jack to lift the last tire clear of the ground. Need a combination of clearance under the wheel well (lift entire trailer) and countering the articulation in the suspension. I'm not a big fan of carrying one trick ponies in my storage, using the Lynx blocks I already carry for leveling the trailer seemed the best way to resolve the problem. I have successfully used both the jack from the truck and a small floor jack I carry when I know I am changing tires on the RZR. There isn't much load on the jack with the trailer lifted and I place it directly under the existing suspension mount to ensure I don't bend anything. I also leave the trailer hooked to my truck and install all normal wheel chocks on the side not impacted to ensure it's not going anywhere.

I've got it down to less than 30 minutes from the "OH S..." to resuming my drive.
