We had new beefed up axles put on the trailer about 4,000 miles ago and do not overload the trailer. We drive at 55-60mph and keep an eye on the tire pressure and lug nuts.

Did you notice the wear shortly after the new axles were installed? Did you bring it to the attention of whomever installed the axles? If you didn't let the installer know, then you're pretty much on the hook, IMO, especially if this was done more than 1-2 years ago. Take it to a heavy-duty trailer shop and have them do the alignment.
