Trailer Life helps perpetuate the 1/2 ton towable myth???
Its only a myth on here due to the crazy weight police types on here.
We just got back from 2 solid weeks of towing to the smokies and back, and I say more 1/2 tons SAFELY towing 5th wheels than I've ever seen. They looked a lot more comfortable than the majority of the bumper pulls.
I don't care how any given 5th wheel is "marketed" or labeled, I feel plenty safe with many of them on the road being towed by 1/2 tons.
we just pulled in following a 72 day, 5,000+ mile trip from NC to SD and plenty of side trips in between .... as my be seen in my signature, our tow vehicle is a Freightliner Sportchassis which should make it pretty clear that I believe in having a strong truck .... as noted above, we also camped with a bunches of 5ers and large TT's that were being towed by new generation half ton trucks .... I'm not a Ford fan but have to hand it to their ECO Boost trucks ... everyone I talked to who is towing with one was delighted with the performance .... the same was true for Chevy and Dodge 1500's but I didn't see as many of them .... is a myth still a myth if it proves out to be true in the real world ?
