Trailer Life strikes again...

Just got a message from Northwoods RV that Trailer Life has featured their 27-5L in an article.
In the note they specifically mention that while TL says this unit is "1/2 ton towable", Northwoods does NOT recommend it

Other then that it appears to be a nice piece on an Arctic Fox product link

  • To Trailer Lifes credit, they had a good write up in the previous mag that explained the limitations of towing these so-called half ton towables.
  • Dry weight is 9650lbs. Dry pin is 1868lbs. There's one at Cordelia RV that is 10,200lbs dry and has a 2125lb dry pin. Definitely not 1/2 ton even for the mighty HD F150.

I think that even a stripper reg cab F150 Max/Max would be done in by the 11,500# dry weight, and the 13,400# GVWR.
  • On the TL article, it's advertised with a 1,800 hitch weight. That's higher than the payload capacity of more than a few 1/2-ton trucks. You'd need a special 1/2-ton with high payload to carry it and be within ratings.
