smkettner Is correct on the wiring for the ATS. I just setup solar panels and inverter in my 5th wheel. As your generator my inverter only has one leg of 120 volts. 50 amp service uses 2 legs of 120 volt. If you don't put the jumper in from L1 to L2 you will not supply 120 volts to your entire unit. The neutral and ground pass thru the ATS with no jumpers. This setup is the same wiring as in the 30-50 amp dog bone adapter. It does expose your neutral to a potential higher amp load but...we all use the dog bone adapter with no adverse effects as long as we not try to run two AC's at the same time when on the dog bone adapter.
