At the rear of the stove burners, against the wall, I keep my electric can opener toaster and 4 cup coffeemaker. Everything else I clear (unless I forget something.) So far, so good, in all my units I have owned. I even have a small convection oven sitting on a cover of the gas cooking stove. I have "scoot guard) or whatever you call it, under it.
